A Career Built on Listening

Jim Eschrich has called Johnson County home for 38 of the last 39 years. He raised two daughters here — both graduates of Shawnee Mission West High School and proud University of Kansas Jayhawks. He became a grandfather in 2024, with two grandchildren now growing up in the same community he has loved for nearly four decades.

His career as a professional focus group moderator gave him a rare skill set: the ability to listen deeply, challenge assumptions, and cut through noise to find practical solutions. He’s bringing those same skills to the State Capitol.

Jim is running because he believes too much ideological noise has stalled real progress on property taxes, student outcomes, and community safety in Kansas. He’s focused on solutions — not political theater.

Core Values

Deep Listening

Jim spent his career as a focus group moderator — asking tough questions and listening deeply. He'll bring that same discipline to the State Capitol.

Challenge Assumptions

Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it's time to challenge assumptions. Jim doesn't follow the crowd — he follows the evidence.

Practical Results

Ideology over results has stalled progress on property taxes, student outcomes, and community safety. Jim is running to cut through the noise and deliver.

Community Roots

This isn't just a district to Jim — it's where his family put down roots. He's fighting for the Kansas values that built strong families and neighborhoods here.

BUILT THROUGH EXPERIENCE

Preparation. Teamwork. Responsibility.

As a husband, father, and provider, Jim understands the importance of responsibility, hard work, and planning ahead. Those same values carried over into his pursuits as a competitive bobsledder, flight instructor, and glider pilot — environments where preparation, teamwork, and quick decision-making matter every day.

Whether navigating a fast-moving bobsled track or teaching others to fly safely, Jim learned how to stay calm under pressure, listen carefully, and solve small problems before they become major ones. Those real-world experiences shaped the practical mindset he’ll bring to Topeka as State Representative for Kansas House District 17.
